Pessimists!!!!! Actually... when it really comes down to it.. Having more then one ircd helps keep servers stable.. Think about it... One exploit is found... then it gets around.. and all of a sudden 100% of the network is exploitable! Yippie!!! That's why I can see a need for at least one other ty...

I have little doubt this is related to the recent Windows RPC exploit which was discovered, and the posting of source to a "proof of concept" exploit. If anyone has Windows installations, patch them now if you haven't already. Remember, this isn't the first DDoS attack EFnet has suffered and it wont...

The problem with these 'windows' is that they are still text based, and there is no notification that they have new information to be seen, so you spend endless cycles checking for new content. Not to mention switching between specific 'windows' is a lot more effort than in a gui client. Not to men...

Re: Hmmm :)

You forgot ircN. While using mIRC as a base, it is a lot better. I'm one of those scrooges who hates mIRC scripts . When I used to use mIRC I found they made a mess the client, you have to ask yourself "do I really need all these features?", probably not. If I wanted something I found it b...

Hi seiki, I have been trying to contact you, anyway, I think you should lock down chat.efnet.info a bit more as atm you can make it connect to any network and join any channel etc. When trying another server/network, such as irc.freenode.net: *** Access to that server is blocked *** Welcome to CGI:...

mIRC rocks... All you purists just don't understand... IRC is spposed to be fun and relaxing.. not full of furious un-needed typing! All clients have their strong points tho... As long as they get you on irc.. that makes them "L33t" anyway... afterall... That's what they are there for. Totally agre...

offsite avatars can be slight security problems/annoyances.

(1) harder to check the size (pixels/bytes) of the avatar, people dont like big avatars.
(2) possiblity of it being used for "tracking" users.

As long as they have some use, and dont put too much of a load on the server I dont see the problem. It's not like anyone is forcing chanops to use these wacky new modes :D
