Re: Any way to get a global list of banned address ranges?

I ask because I have a shell (for privacy purposes) with a provider who, after getting hit with a DDoS, decided to change coloc hosts and is now at Foonet. I've found out (the hard way) that many servers have denied access from foonet's address blocks, and I am looking for a way to just figur...

Re: in the future will opers need to have more control?

maybe its how you approach opers or something.... cause i've never ever had a problem finding a prison oper. All depends on the time of the day. We're not gonna list all abuse-friendly servers and if their opers are competent, active and covering all the 24 hours of the day. i've rarely seen where ...

Re: in the future will opers need to have more control?

I believe the standard response is "if you don't like what one particular server is doing, don't use that server." True. My point was, as said in the topic, giving more control to opers. If prison or the aformentionned hitler-like admin'ed servers start doing their s**t network-wide, it won't be pr...

Re: in the future will opers need to have more control?

(snip) but as irc is getting more complicated and attackers are getting harder to find with things such as single connection floods and DDoS nets that are largely appearing on the internet do you think that hybrid will require opers to have more power to really control their server? (snip) We also ...

for once it would be nice to see a post from you that wasn't a flame. Been there, done that :) bottler does NOT check topic changes once it is in the channel, it checks the topic when it joins. so if "-bottler" is in the topic, the client will join, check topic, and part. therefor your "test" is co...

Re: bottler!!!

the limited topic is another thread entirely, but most xdcc channels hardly come close the the 120 char limit. and having "-bottler" in the topic may give it publicity, but it's hardly promoting it if you are banning all bottler clients." S'cuse me, but I'm not running a typical XDCC channel where ...

he said ratbox supports it, meaning it doesn't need a patch. that doesn't mean that option is compiled in by default. stop trolling No need to flame me when I'm reporting historic facts, like, around the time TS5 was implemented and all admins had to upgrade to hybrid 6. Re: bottler!!!

There has been a new program developed, called bottler, that is designed solely for leeching off of irc. (snip) The way to figure out who these users are is to /whois them and you'll notice the 30/40+ channels they are in. This probably has no concern for efnet but what probably does is the endless...

Re: EFnet approves channelmode +e and +I

EFnet global voting approved new channel mode +e and +I to be globally implemented. (snip) The implementation schedule was set to two weeks from today in the vote. OK, so here we are, August 19th (original post was Aug 1st), and it looks like only 1/4 of the servers has upgraded to +e/+I. The vote ...
