People don't pay because they are addicted to IRC, there are always ways around that. People pay because they want to support Khaled (the author of mIRC) and say thanks :P

EMC stands for Efnet Management Center, and it is far from complete. I personally use Iris as my theme, but the new default theme rocks :P

The only way you can do this is with /whois. If you are using mIRC, you can /whois each client that joins "secretly" (that is, without you seeing the results) using a couple raw statements like: raw 319:*: { haltdef } raw 312:*: { haltdef } .. .. raw 318:*: { echo -a   14` | haltdef } Channels are i...

Hybrid has nothing to do with the lack of "power" that you refer to. Hybrid can easily be modified (and has been) to allow opers to have more control over the users and the network.

If your "IRCSPY" is showing that EFNet servers are down, it is probably a mistake. Some servers that you can try to get on are:

irc.efnet.info
irc.choopa.net
irc.servercental.net
irc.foxlink.net

Why in the world would anyone use Macs in for a server type application?! :) If you are truely a linux guru, I guess that you can make RedHat manageable and secure. FreeBSD is my choice in BSD, and even *nix os'.

As for everything, OPME has its pros and cons. It would be great for combating drones, since ops are sometimes required to command them (and to keep the original runners from using them). This is the only valid reason that I could think of for it's usage however.

The old forums are back at http://www.efnet.info/oldforum/. We put them up mainly for archive purposes, since it contained so much information. Once again, the forums are locked, and will not allow anyone to post.

Like munky said, it is CRUCIAL for you to patch this security hole if you are running Windows. It is perhaps the easiest hole to exploit that Microsoft has had in a while. You might even have drones running on your computer now. Update your virus definitions and operating systems!
