I hardly used irc.aol.com, but I had this feeling that I could alway use the server as backup if all other fails. Shame it left with such great standing with the community. Oh well. Nothing lasts forever.

Let me take this time to say Hi everyone. Now in my honest opinion i think that even though AIM maybe liked by some and hated by others because of MSN existence. What do you think of MSN seeing how they are closing their chatrooms because of all the inappropriate behaviour that has been going on th...

Interesting idea seiki and actually I love it. It's a slight inconvenience, but if it's implementable so that it's not easily defeated (i.e., just script to look for the figlet and return an answer, easy to defeat), then it would save a lot of headaches for everyone in the long run.

In regards to deppy's post, it's been done in a specific channel, which I shall not name, and for a specific server which the ops of that channel think it's criminal if you're using it and trying to utilize their channel's help resources.

Within 14400 minutes, the ban will clear up. (Are you sure you didn't add an extra 0 in there?). The server you were on had "juped" the channel, which means you should not attempt to join that channel. You will get an message that says channel or nickname is temporarly not available. Don't keep tryi...

Nice helpful tips. I had no idea previously how to do the FBSD one properly. Gentoo users are quite easy: emerge sync emerge openssh Slackware: These are unofficial packages but they work just as well - Slackware 9.0 http://www.linuxpackages.net/redirecthtml.php?httpdl=http://www3.linuxpackages.net/...

I think the links to all of these link apps to should be included in a FAQ somewhere. Once in a blue moon when a brave, but generous soul asks the question in #help, I don't know where to direct them, besides for the US one. I mean this thread works too, but a collective, single post might be a good...

... Since Windows 98SE still had a DOS based startup, where is Windows ME eliminated that and was sold as an upgrade for as little as £30 (I think), therefore because it was so bad, people then upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP. Though it did actually make Microsoft alot of money, not as much ...

*Poke* *Poke* Yesh! I feel the surge! So, really, what makes most (all?) of EFNet servers run FBSD over other "Unices"? I guess that's still on topic.

I've only ran "production" level servers using Windows 2000, so I am definitely not a good judge of what's good and what's bad. I've also ran Linux and FBSD before. Linux used for desktop and personal webserver. FBSD had been used primary for "testing" only. I never really picked it up, but I did ma...

(Ok, I don't know if anything I said was true, pfffft).

A juped channel is essentially a banned channel. "Only 4 times" is more than enough, although I guess the error message that gets displayed "Channel/Nick is temporarily unavailable" is a bit vague for people to really know to stop. Perhaps a more descriptive error message would've helped. :) Jupiter...
