IRSeeK

Postby munky » Fri Nov 30, 2007 6:09 pm

As many people are not aware, IRSeeK has been logging numerous channels for months and making those logs searchable online. While some see this as a valuable service, others may see it as an invasion of privacy.

If you are an operator in one of the channels being logged and object to the logging, I suggest you contact the IRSeeK administrators and request they remove your channel from their site.

Alternatively, all of their current logging bots (across all of the major networks) are using the host bzq-219-46-202.isdn.bezeqint.net. Banning this host from your channel should stop the logging (at least until IRSeeK changes the IP address of their logging bots).

IRSeeK has posted a public response to the contacts it has been getting of late. If you have an opinion you would like them to hear, be sure to post your comments to their blog.

ircarc.com is doing a similar service
one of it's logging bots is:
03:58 | Nick/Userhost | pogerits (~bse@87.118.68.58) [IPv4 Address]
03:58 | Real Name | pogerits
03:58 | Channels | #computers #flash #fw #iphone #ps2 #ps3 #psp #wiihack #winxp #I'm a spammer! #xbox360

i assume there must be more, as there are many more efnet channels being logged by ircarc.com than what pogerits is in, as well as logging for freenode and quakenet.

for those that are interested, irseek.com is back online with an opt-in/opt-out page where you can request addition or removal of your channel from their archive bots.
