How many of you are actually oldschool?

Postby michiepie » Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:43 pm

Meaning, if you're 16, you don't qualify. If you're 21, you probably don't qualify either.

I'm talking 1994-1995.

How many of you still exist?

Lessee, FDR was president when I was born, and WW-II hadn't yet started. First computer was using 5-bit and then 8-bit ASCII on oiled tape. Then mainframe, using Holorith cards. Then went to CP/M with original Xerox WYSIWYG. Then PC using EBCIDEC. Sysoped two multi-line BBS's run under non-Windows DR-DOS. Thence onto IRC and invited to operhood by one of the oldest school servers. Is that old school enough for you?

I began on DALnet around 1997 or 1998, and a week or so later found myself on EFnet as well. I have been using both ever since.
